Soulful Moments for a Busy Mum: Connecting To Nature

A Note From Angela Woolcott (2025)

This post is shared for historical reference to help document my journey as a writer and author. It was originally published in 2017 on my first blog and reflects my personal and creative Journey at that time.

I can more easily achieve a strong connection to nature, spiritual enlightenment and peace, even when life is busy, by quieting my mind and focusing on the beauty around me.

When I spend time in nature, even just in my own backyard, it quiets my mind and connects me with a creative source. This shared moment of enlightenment and peace seems to go deep within my soul. I develop a stronger intuition, allowing spirit to guide me when I return to the busyness of life.

The plants, the leaves, the sky now all stood out with a presence and a slight shimmer that suggested life there, and perhaps consciousness, beyond our ordinary assumption. After seeing this, there would be no way to take a forest for granted again.

The Celestine Prophecy, James Redfield

I see the world as poetry in motion. With a philosophical spirit, I am always seeking inspiration to give my life meaning. It’s like seeing the beauty in a weed that grows amongst a bed of roses, or admiring the effort a spider went to in building the web right where you need to walk. It’s a constant respect and admiration for the beauty and perfect design in everything.

I’m not perfect; I swat at flies, curse mosquitoes biting me, and often wish the rainy weather would clear up, but when I take the time to tune in with the Earth and allow my soul to connect with spirit, this awakens in me a knowing that everything is as it should be. The colours stand out and everything seems to be in perfect flow. I stop judging.

Meditation gets me in this space, but as a busy mum, sometimes I only have time for a few minutes to connect to my garden. Sometimes it only takes a moment to love and feel gratitude. This is when I remember we are all spinning around a galaxy of stars, perfectly aligned to the sun in a gentle dance of love.
