Harvesting Cucumbers and Moments of Quiet Reflection
In this peaceful, slow-living video, we begin the morning with a quiet harvest in the vegetable garden, gathering fresh cucumbers and tending to the plots. Tending to the soil always opens up a creative space for thought, allowing me time to contemplate my journey as a writer amidst the gentle routines of daily life.
There is also time spent learning from Brad, sharing in his deep harvest and botanical knowledge as we go about our daily rhythms. Afterwards, taking a deliberate break from screens, we head out with Bonnie for a refreshing walk, finding balance and breathing space in the crisp morning air.
As the week unfolds, we spend a day on the water, observing the changing colours of the river and the ocean. While resting by the shore, my thoughts turn to our local community, honouring the memory of the brave marine rescue volunteers who tragically lost their lives at the Ballina Bar, alongside a quiet tribute to my late mentor, Don Ellison, and the enduring story of Billy Blue.
To close these moments of reflection, I share a reading of my original poem, Ode to the Passing, capturing the transient beauty of the seasons and life. I hope this journal entry brings a moment of stillness, comfort, and deep inspiration to your day.
