Why I Escape to the River: Morning Discoveries

I loved sitting on the floor in the sunlit doorway on days like this. Bonnie usually found a warm spot nearby, but I think she was getting a little tired of watching me sit at my computer, so I decided it was time for us to get outside.

I always enjoy going down to the water. There is something about being beside the river, watching the boats and people going about their morning, that makes me forget about everything waiting for me back at home. A group of outrigger paddlers made their way along the channel, and plenty of fish swam around in the shallows.

It was lovely getting out for a walk. I still had plenty of poems to sort through, a book to edit, and lots of decisions to make, but I knew I would find it easier to tackle those after a morning by the water.

Filming and writing allow me to capture these simple, unhurried moments. I invite you to join me as I share reflections on nature, family, creativity, and the quiet moments that often become our most treasured memories.
